Lauren Akins shared a reflective post about simultaneously “carrying so much joy,” and “carrying a lot of heavy and sadness.”
Akins, married to country star Thomas Rhett, is pregnant with the couple’s fifth child. The couple announced Akins’ pregnancy by updating the lyrics to Rhett’s hit 2017 single, “Life Changes”: “Life Changes”: “Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad/ A big wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had/ Now Lauren’s showing, got one on the way/ That’s five under 10, hey, what can I say?/ Yeah, life changes/ You wake up, ain’t nothin’ the same and life changes.” Baby No. 5 will join big sisters Willa Gray (10), Ada James (8), Lennon Love (5) and Lillie Carolina (3).
Earlier this month, Akins’ sister, Macy Page, shared a candid post about her recent diagnosis with Stage 3 breast cancer. Page said, in part, that “it definitely came as a shock and rocked our world a bit, but let me tell you something—God has a plan, and this is HIS story.”
“Carrying so much joy and anticipation as well as carrying a lot of heavy and sadness in this season,” Akins wrote in a caption on Instagram on Wednesday evening (February 11). “It feels so hard and unnatural and sometimes wrong to feel both but these are my days right now. So grateful for another little life growing in our family and also heartbroken that my little sister is walking through a valley that feels so hard. It’s okay to feel both. I know our Father can handle any emotion (or hormone) I throw at Him. And I am so grateful that Jesus has been so near. So near to our family and community supporting Macy and even more near I think to Macy-she is truly letting the Lord fight for her (Exodus 14:14) and He has given her such strength and bravery and her faith has grown tremendously 💛 We can feel Him sustaining us all and we are believing He will be glorified in it all-on the mountain tops and in the valleys 🤍🤍.
