Luke Bryan insisted he didn’t plan to stop at the bar, “but I’m helpless in a honky tonk.”
The country megastar couldn’t resist taking the stage while a crowd of bar goers — many donning cowboy hats, jeans and boots — gathered on the dance floor. Bryan delivered the “Country Song Came On” music video on Thursday (April 24) after teasing the premiere with a few sneak peeks on social media. The American Idol judge filmed the visual, directed by Kate Rentz, in Nashville, Tennessee.
“I was gonna drive by, I wasn't gonna stop/ Then my old truck found a front row spot/ Gonna drop in, but I wasn't gonna stay/ Then I heard a barstool callin' my name/ Wasn't gonna let the bar twist my arm, but I'm helpless in a honky-tonk/ Said I wasn't gonna drink/ And then a country song came on”
Bryan released “Country Song Came On” — written by Ryan Beaver, Dan Alley and Neil Medley — on his latest studio record, Mind Of A Country Boy, which also includes “Love You, Miss You, Mean It,” “Country On,” “But I Got A Beer In My Hand,” and more. The five-time Entertainer of the Year winner said in a previous interview with iHeartCountry that the 14-track album is “a reflection of where I’m at in my life right now.”
“Country Song Came On” inspired the title of Bryan’s headlining tour, which is slated to kick off late next month. Bryan will also play shows on his annual “Farm Tour,” which includes his first-ever stops on the West Coast this year. Find “Farm Tour” dates here. Up-and-coming artists joining the “Country Song Came On Tour” on select dates include George Birge, Avery Anna, Ashland Craft, Mae Estes, Cole Goodwin, Braxton Keith, Randall King, Vincent Mason, Drake Milligan, Adrien Nunez and Owen Riegling. DJ Rock will join all shows, per a previously-issued press release. See those tour dates below.
