Be aware of this scam - Child Safety Kit

The Better Business Bureau is warning parents about a child safety kit scam that is targeting people through phone calls, social media, and email.

Scammers claim that law enforcement recommends the kit, which is true, however, they’re asking very sensitive information about children in the process.

Some of the information scammers are asking for include the child’s full name, social security number, address, birth date, and some parents have said an in-person meeting was requested.

Many scammers target children due to their clean credit rating and the ability to use their information for years before being caught. The BBB recommends never giving out your child’s information, checking their credit report annually and be wary of unsolicited offers.
