Around 200-thousand bees living atop the Notre Dame Cathedral are alive despite the intense blaze that destroyed most of the historic church earlier this week. The cathedral's beekeeper, who has cared for the three beehives since 2013, confirmed the news. The bees reportedly survived because they sit on Notre Dame's south side, 98-feet below the main roof, which allowed them to escape the flames. The hives were installed as part of a Parisian initiative to boost bee numbers across the city.
