The states Sales Tax Holiday is underway. More July 27 Local Headlines:

Our states Sales Tax Holiday is designed to save you money on back to school items, and it’s underway.  The sales tax holiday started just after midnight this morning, and ends tomorrow night at 11:59.  The savings applies to most clothing and footwear, but each item has to be below $100-dollars to get the break.

The Pascagoula Shipyard wants to hire 500 workers by the end of the year.  A hiring class for first class welders, pipefitters, pipe welders, shipfitters and test engineers is coming up next Saturday, (August 4th) at Haley Reeves Barbour Maritime Training Center. Pre-application on the Ingalls website is required.

Congratulations to the East Central 12-U baseball team, they’re headed to Branson to play in the World Series of Baseball for Cal Ripken.  They’ll leave for Missouri next Thursday, and play their first game that Sunday. 

Governor Phil Bryant has set the special election to fill the Mississippi house seat vacated last month by Sarah Thomas. She stepped down from the District 31 post to devote more time to her family. Qualifying ends September 7th with the election set for November 6th.
