The other night when I couldn't sleep I hopped on Amazon Prime and purchased one season of a show I'd never heard of just because the synopsis sounded cool. I had no clue what awaited me..
"Channel Zero" pulled me in with a headline that read, "A child psychologist returns to his hometown to determine if his brother's disappearance is somehow connected to a series of similar incidents and a bizarre children's television show that aired at the same time". I really love true crime, mystery, and anything that has the "creep" factor. However, I WAS NOT PREPARED.
The show which originally aired on SyFy is BY FAR the creepiest show I have ever seen on TV, or maybe even ever. It has a very "Black Mirror" feeling to it, which if you've never seen and like this sort of thing, is on Netflix. I binged that one pretty hardcore. The main difference is that "Black Mirror" is about terrifying instances in a technologically advanced future and every episode is a new story. "Channel Zero" is one story line per season.
The first season (Candle Cove), the one I purchased in the middle of the night last week, scared me badly...and I don't scare easily. This is a show that messes with your head. I just bought Season 2 yesterday and I'm over half way done. It's just as scary if not more terrifying than the first.
If you like the weird stuff like me, give this one a try and let me know what you think! If not, why did you read through the last 4 paragraphs? :)
