In Joker, Arthur Fleck is a rent-a-clown by day and a failed comedian by night who has had a lifetime of hiding behind a mask in Gotham City.
Security concerns have police on edge as the new movie Joker opens. Moviegoers can expect to see a heightened police presence at theaters across the country during the film's opening weekend. Part of the concern stems from the film's dark subject matter, following a mentally ill loner as he spirals and becomes the sinister Batman villain. The connection to the Batman series also recalls the 2012 mass shooting at a screening of the film The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado. The theater where that massacre occurred is not showing Joker.
