PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (970 WFLA) - We've heard a lot about the mosquito-borne Chikungunya virus.  There's now a vaccine that's being developed.

Dr. Ted Ross of the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute of Florida in Port St. Lucie says there's a vaccine that's in the pre-clinic testing phase right now.

Ross says it could be a few more years before the vaccine is available to the public.

There have been 80 reported cases of Chikungunya in Florida. It's not fatal, but can cause chronic health problems. The virus originated in the Caribbean.
